Ted W. Smith

Ted Smith, Gold Crown Properties, Inc., AMO Chief Executive Officer, has been in the apartment property management industry for 29 years. Mr. Smith is one of a few licensed individuals in the country to have obtained the designation of Certified Property Manager (CPM), and the Professional Community Association Manager (PCAM) designation.

Prior to purchasing select management company in 1998, Mr. Smith was president and assisted the origination of Apple Residential Incorporated, an REIT organized to acquire and manage 500 million in apartment assets, all acquired in the Dallas / Fort Worth metroplex over a three year period. Significant renovation was completed on the entire portfolio.

Mr. Smith has had an extensive background in multifamily management and senior corporate capacities with such high profile companies as Balcor / American Express, Daseke Management, and Johnstown American Company, where he was senior vice president of an apartment portfolio in excess of 22,000 units covering the entire North Texas market.

 

During his career, Mr. Smith has overseen the management of nearly all types of apartment communities including distressed A, B, and C grade properties.  Mr. Smith is an expert in improving physical and economic occupancy and soft apartment markets and he is thoroughly versed in maximizing a portfolios net operating income. The portfolios under Mr. Smith’s supervision encompassed most major primary and secondary US apartment markets.

 

Mr. Smith attended four years of college at the University of Kansas where he studied business and real estate administration and was a four-year member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity.  Ted is married to his lovely wife Andrea, they reside in Colleyville, Texas. Ted’s three sons Adam, Alex and Owen and their families reside in the immediate area.
